A fierce competitor who has shown the ability to end fights by submission or spectacular knockout, Alan Belcher is beginning to show the signs of becoming a serious middleweight contender. Winner of four of his last five bouts, Belcher is coming off a second round submission win over international star Denis Kang in January 2009 and a controversial split decision loss to yoshihiro akiyama, who many believe should have been his 3rd win in a row against top ufc competition. When and why did you start training for fighting? I was in martial arts as a kid and I got lucky that I got involved with people who weren’t teaching just traditional boxing or karate. Then the sport started taking off again and the baseball didn’t work out, so I started picking up MMA again. I fought in a few fights and then hooked up with Rich (Clementi) and moved to the coast where i met my beautiful wife ashlee. its been 5 years down here now and i love it.
